The Federal Railroad Administration may release new regulations as early as fall 2009 mandating sleep disorder testing for all operators. The NTSB has cited driver fatigue as an underlying cause of numerous major crashes in the past few years and has made recommendations for further sleep screening. The FMCSA is currently reviewing recommendations by the Medical Expert Panel and Medical Review Board to determine their own regulations on sleep apnea testing.
Companies with safety-sensitive employees should not wait until these recommendations become regulations. University Services has developed a proven approach to sleep disorder testing that is successful and cost-effective.
Don’t scramble trying to get a program together after the regulations go in effect. Contact University Services today.
